Our Team
Bulelani Futshane, Founder and Director
Passionate about people and social justice, Bulelani has focused his career
on community development. Having worked with a number of award-winning nonprofits including the South African
Education and Environment Project (SAEP), love Life and Nal’ibali, he was selected as one of the top three most
promising social entrepreneurs at the Spark* Changemakers Summit in 2012; chosen as one of 15 young people
worldwide to participate in training from The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in 2010; and is
currently studying towards his diploma in adult education at the University of Cape Town.
Nosisa Mhlathi, Fundraising and Resources Director
Having worked in the development field for the past nine
years, Nosisa has worked with prominent South African non-governmental organisations including the Treatment
Action Campaign (TAC), the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation and the South African Education and Environment
Project (SAEP). Passionate about advocacy work and writing, she is a published author and has been invited to
present her research at conferences both locally and internationally.
Thembani Mbadlanyana, Chairman of the Board
Currently a researcher for the portfolio committee on police at
the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa, Themba has also served as a research specialist in the Governance
and Security programme at the Africa Institute of South Africa and as a researcher at the Corruption and Governance
programme at the Institute for Security Studies (ISS). He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in Politics, Public
Policy and Administration as well as an Honours Degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice, both from the University
of Cape Town. He recently completed a Master of Public Affairs degree in France at the Institut d’etudes politiques
de Paris (the Paris Institute of Political Studies).
Zolani Barnes, Board Member
Zolani heads up the Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilisation department
at TB/HIV Care Association. A skilled networker and public relations specialist, Zolani has worked as the Cape Metro
Regional Manager for loveLife and as a consultant for the Western Cape Education Department and the Western
Cape Department of Health where he concentrated on social mobilisation and peer education. He has a BTech in
Public Relations Management from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a National Diploma in Sports
Administration and Marketing. He is currently pursuing a Masters in Public Relations Management at the Cape
Peninsula University of Technology.
